The SAIC-GM-Wuling-produced Baojun Yep Electric Car was expected to be on display at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show, however, it did not appear. The automobile, however, has now been shown, and it is quite an interesting-looking vehicle. The Baojun Yep will be available in five colorways that depict the 24-hour cycle. Sunrise (Yellow), Early Morning (Green), Cloud (White), Neon (Pink), and Deep Space (Black) are the colors.
While official launch dates have yet to be announced, it is likely to be released shortly, since a few units have already begun to arrive at dealerships in China. The vehicle will cost roughly 90,000 Yuan (Rs. 10.65 Lakh).
Specifications and Range
The Baojun Yep Electric SUV has a single electric motor that produces 68bhp and 140Nm of peak torque. The electric motor is powered by a 28.1kWh LFP battery. With this engine configuration, the Yep e-SUV can attain speeds of up to 100km/h and travel up to 303 km on a single charge. The CLTC certifies the range figures.
Design
The Baojun Yep is 3,381mm long, 1,685mm wide, and 1,721mm tall, with a 2,110 mm wheelbase. Because the automobile is so large, it is natural to believe that the interiors are spacious. The front grille, front bumper, and wheel arches all have Suzuki Jimny characteristics. However, the body shape is more rounded and has a lot more smoother features. The Jimny, on the other hand, is much more straightforward. When we compare it to the MG Comet, we notice parallels in the general design of the automobile, with both having a highly upright and boxy appearance.
Moving back, the Baojun Yep has an exceptionally distinct trait. It is designed in the style of a smartwatch, with the ability to show movies, traffic hazards, customized messages, and photographs on the watch’s screen.
The screen measures 300mm x 256mm, while the watch band measures 1050mm long and 260mm broad. The watch strap may be customized with different colors and styles.
What Are Your Thoughts On The Baojun Yep Electric SUV?
The Baojun Yep Electric has some odd characteristics that will amuse everyone, but it may not be safe for others on the road! With the Indian EV industry expanding quickly, there is a chance that the Baojun Yep Electric SUV would visit our shores, although nothing formal has been announced. Because similar-looking vehicles have already been introduced, all we can do is wait to see what the Chinese manufacturer has in store for us.
